There was a lot of debate, even gossip, going on about who was to direct the third Twilight installment. Everyone from Spielberg to Drew Barrymore seemed to be in the running, but now we appaer to have a winner: Juan Antonio Bayona. Who?! Well, let´s just say he´s famous director Guillermo Del Toro´s favorite wunderkind. Born in Barcelona in 1975, Bayona studied journalism and cinema.

His directorial debut was El Orfanato (The Orphanage), one of the most successfull Spanish films ever. Co-produced by Guillermo Del Toro it got an eight minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival.

The Orphanage

is a very dark film, about Simon, an adopted boy who has that ultimate horror attribute, the invisible little friend. The little friend turns out to be a child that died a long time ago in an orphanage. Things go downhill from there for Simon, but it ish an impressively scary movie!
Let ´s hope Bayona does the same with Eclipse!
